Christmas is less than a month away, which means it’s time to start your holiday shopping. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday around the corner, there is no better time for a little retail therapy. Luckily, if you’re going to be in Grande Prairie this holiday season, there are so many great places to shop. Check out this list of where to shop for the holidays in Grande Prairie.

Prairie Mall Shopping Centre

Visit the Prairie Mall Shopping Centre this holiday season and get your shopping done all in one place. This is by far the largest shopping mall in the area and it has every store you could possibly want. Apparel stores include Laura, Mark’s Work Wearhouse, Marshalls, Lululemon Athletica, and Urban Planet. You’ll also find Foot Locker and The Shoe Company here if you need to do some shoe shopping. After makeup or skincare? Bath and Body Works, Saje, The Body Shop, Shoppers Drug Market, and the newly opened Sephora are all great choices. Finally, all kinds of gifts can be bought at Coles or Dollarama and there are plenty of food joints if you’re looking for gift cards, including Subway, Starbucks, A&W, and Tim Hortons.

Not into shopping at the mall? Head over to Westgate, where you’ll find an outdoor shopping complex with tons of great retail options. This plaza just north of Highway 43 is where you’ll find Moores Clothing for Men, Dollar Tree, La Vie En Rose, Party City, and Urban Barn. Although not technically part of Westgate mall, just across the street on the other side of the highway lies Winners, Best Buy, and Costco. Walmart Supercentre is also only a short drive away.

Overall, whether you plan on doing your holiday shopping at Prairie Mall Shopping Centre or at some of the strip malls on the west side of town, you’ll love all the options you have in Grande Prairie. A reminder that with the ongoing pandemic, face masks or coverings are mandatory in all public indoor spaces, as well as social distancing.

If you’re visiting Grande Prairie, Alberta this holiday season, then we recommend reserving a room at the Paradise Inn & Conference Centre Grande Prairie Airport. We combine quality service and family-friendly amenities with a convenient location close to all the best shopping in Grande Prairie.

Whether you are in Grande Prairie to see some old friends or to go on an adventure, there are plenty of fun activities you could take up while staying in this beautiful city that would keep you engaged and keep you in the fall spirit.

Here are our top recommendations for experiencing the best of fall in Grande Prairie:

What better way to stay in the fall vibe than to be walking around the city and witnessing up close and in person the beautiful transition into the new season.

Visit the city of Grand Prairie trail maps and get out to explore the 100km+ of walking routes on offer to you.

If you would like to pick up some last-minute fall gear, Prairie Mall shopping centre has you covered.

Whether it is buying new books to read, clothes to wear, or ingredients to cook your favourite fall-inspired meal, this shopping centre has tons of stores and shops that can accommodate your needs.

The Grand Prairie sundial is a unique attraction that you should add to your Grande Prairie to-do-list. Not only because of the sundial itself, but because of the beautiful scenery that surrounds it.

Towering 12m and with ample parking, it's a sight not to be missed.

If ticking off these fall activities is high on your fall bucket list, book your stay at the Paradise Inn & Suites Grand Prairie. We offer comfortable accommodations and quality amenities for your stay.

It might be the middle of winter, but that doesn’t matter all that much in Grande Prairie. Whereas other cities tend to shut or slow down when the weather gets a little chilly, this isn’t the case in Grande Prairie, which always offers its visitors something fun to do. And if you’re planning on visiting the city during February, March and into April, fun is just what you’ll find. Below, we take a look at just three of the events that you’ll have to look forward to during your trip.

Winter fun

Some people try and shelter themselves away all winter, but even in sub-zero temperatures, there are plenty of opportunities to have fun, and once you bundle up, you can make the most of it! On February 17th, you and all members of your family can look forward to the annual Winter Family Frostival, which will be taking place at the Crosslink County Sportsplex, between 12 pm to 3 pm. At this event, winter fun includes sleigh rides, ice carving, ice skating, snow painting, and snowshoeing!

Buying souvenirs

What better way to capture the special moments on your trip to Alberta than by bringing a souvenir home with you? The 7th Annual Critter and Craft Sale will be held on April 25, from 10 am to 3 pm, at the Drysdale Arena at Evergreen Park. This is a local farmers market unlike any other where you'll find almost anything under the sun. Featuring over 100 vendors onsite, you can go home with crafts, clothing, bath and beauty products, woodworks, jars of honey, poultry, rabbits, goats, pigs and much more! Find things you didn't know you needed! This public market is free for all to attend.

Comedy fun

Do you love comedy? Do you desperately need a laugh to shake the winter blues? Then make sure you get in line to see the 12th annual Snowed In Comedy Tour, which is the largest cross-Canada tour of its' kind! The comedy showcase makes its' stop in Grande Prairie at the Douglas J. Cardinal Performing Arts Centre on March 11. The show has toured internationally and features accomplished comedians that are not only hilarious, but they ARE the show. This year's stellar line-up includes Erica Sigurdson, Pete Zedlacher, Dan Quinn, and Paul Myrehaug of the Debaters. Get your tickets before they sell out!

It is possible to experience the best of Grande Prairie in winter whether at a family friendly winter festival, a great comedy show or at a farmers' market. After a full day's fun and adventure, you'll be seeking out fabulously comfortable accommodations that offer a peaceful and relaxing stay experience.
